best laptop for university student image

I am interested in buying a mac computer for university -going into first year in the fall. What mac's are best for university students?

definitely say the macbook. Its counterpart, the macbook pro would be for tasks that require intense operations, like HD Video editing, or Photo editing. if its just word processing and notes, then there is no need for the top of the range. plus its cheaper. but its all up to you and what your gonna do at uni! :D

What is the amount of memory, hard drive and other specifications would a university student need?

I will go to university for longer than 7 years, so I will need a laptop but the problem s that Im unsure of the amount of memory, hard drive and other specifications does my laptop need. I think that 4GB memory and 320 GB would be good for me.
By the way, which laptop do you think is good for a university student?

It really depends on what you want to do with it. If you're just going to be using a word processor and doing some web browsing, then an entry-level Dell notebook would be fine and save you some cash. If you want ease of use, the last-generation Macbooks are great and stylish.
If you want to play games or do video editing etc, then be prepared to shell out quite a bit more on something with larger specs.
320GB is decent, 500GB is better, 1TB is luxury. 4GB of ram should be more than sufficient for day-to-day work, and will let you have a few apps open at once.
Keep in mind if you use a digital camera or shoot any videos, you can fill that up pretty quick.
