best laptops for college students under 300 image

I'm a newly enrolled college student and I want to get a laptop for all my classes, but I have no idea what to look for. I would like something with a very large amount of memory, at least a 13 in. screen, is lightweight, has a great graphics card, has a wifi connector, is high speed, protected from viruses, is reliable, and something that will last for at least 5 years. Let me know of ANY suggestions. THANKS!

While it doesnt act like styrofoam, it doesnt actively get reduce heat, resulting in a hotter core and potential for system meltdowns and overall CPU crashes.
Macbook Pro comes with iLife 09, which is an excellent software suite when compared to windows bundled software. iLife 09 comes with iPhoto, iMovie, iWeb, and something that windows doesnt have, Garageband(a powerful music creation program that can also be used to create presentations and podcasts).

OS X Leapord is a very easy and stable OS that rarely crashes and can be left running for weeks without needing to be rebooted due to performance loss(try that with windows). Also, say goodbye to expensive antivirus software as there are virtually no viruses related to macs.

Office for mac is compatable with windows PC's even while working under the mac OS.

Over a 4 year period, the mac might have to change a battery once(apple rates their batteries for 5 years of use before needing replaced), while PC's will need to replace once or twice, costing at least 200$ if replaced twice compared to apples 100$ for a possible replacement. With windows and macs new operating systems coming out, apple is only charging 30$ for an upgrade to snow leapord, while windows is charging 200$ for windows 7. Finally, PC's are often poorly designed and will break down often. So be prepared to spend time on the phone with customer support as you dish out cash to replace parts. Macs are solid machines, with the OS and internal components created together to provide a very reliable machine. So for replacement parts for the PC over a 4 year period, you might need to dish out 100-200$.

What kind of laptop should I get for college?

I am a getting new laptop for college and I want one that has a good or decent graphics card, Blu-Ray, 4GB of RAM or more, 15-16 inch screen, at least 300GB of storage and other good media options at a reasonable price. P.S. I am trying to stay under a thousand dollars but can go as high as $1,300.

It has 2GB DDR3 RAM, 160GB hard drive(upgrade the harddrive since you have 200$ left till u reach ur budget) and a 2.26 GHz processor. All this is more than enough to get you through 4+ years of college, and unlike PC's, it will actually last you those 4+ years instead of breaking down after 2 or 3. Also, the macbook pro comes with revolutionary battery technology that lasts for 7 hours or more(with brightness at half and just word processing or surfing web) and it can be recharged 1000 times before needing replaced. Apple claims that the battery will last 5 years, unlike practically every PC that will only last 2 years. Unfortunately, there's no Blu-Ray, but hey, if you want to watch blu-ray movies that bad then im sure your roomate will have a PC that can play it.
