Hi, Everyone! I'm a college student leaving at the end of the month to Madrid. I'm be studying abroad for a month and half, then exploring the rest of Spain for two weeks. I'm hoping someone will help me out. Any tips, advise or information about Madrid? This will be my first time in Europe and I'm not sure what to expect.

Answer
I studied in Madrid for 6 months in 1996. You will love it. I also spent 2 weeks traveling around Spain. First, buy a book about traveling in Spain and Madrid. There is PLENTY to do. I am not sure what you are into, and your level of speaking spanish, but there are plenty of clubs and more than plenty of small bars. Once in Madrid buy a map of the city, they are everywhere. They have an excellent subway and bus system and the city is very safe. I walked most everywhere I went. Also very bike friendly or rollerblade if you prefer. Plenty of soccer to see if you like arena sports. Real Madrid is the favorite and even if you don't like sports, check out a game. anyway. I lived near the stadium.

Things to bring - I wore typical american college type clothes, but I recommend bringing more formal clothes like khakis and dress shirts. People in Spain are conservative and dressy. Typical Europe dress. Unless you are working out (fitness) men where shoes not sneakers, pants and shirts (even in the Summer). I didn't care personally, but if you want to fit in, thats what you wear. If you have some money to spend when you get there, I would just bring clothes and travel accessories. 2 months isnt really that long. Madrid has all of the typical things we have here. Bring a converter for all of your electronics, as they use different plugs. I brought a voltage converter cause I had a laptop with me. (get off ebay).

Other tips - pharmacies all have a green plus + sign in neon on them.

buy phone cards at tabacco shops.

Use your ATM cards for best money exchange.

Go see as many places as possible - ask people where to go. Traveling by car is expensive in Spain. The tolls there are crazy (or were) so take a train or bus. I am sure gas is more there than it is here. There may be some major concerts while you are there. Take advantage of them and go. I saw Pearl Jam in San Sabastion and Def Leppard in Madrid. Most of all just have fun

What is the best convertible tablet PC for a college student? Hp EliteBook, Fujitsu T902, or something else?

I am in pharmacy school and I need a laptop that can convert and be a tablet as well. One must have is a digitizer pen. Many of my classes involve drawing chemical structures and such, and the pen is crucial. My school offers the HP EliteBook 2760p and it seems to work extremely well for most of the students. However, this option is extremely expensive. I have done some research into the Fujitsu T902 which seems to be similar to the EliteBook. I am looking for something more similar in size to the T902. Any suggestions? Opinions on what the better choice for me would be? Has to be similar to these two models. If you suggest another product, please provide a link to the product description. Thank you.

Answer
Regardless of price, I would get the Fujitsu. Seems like a good convertible and has a much better design. Specs wise, they are pretty much the same so you would be paying more for the HP without really getting anything for it.

Hope this helps!
