Answer
AMD A8 FUSION.
Basically if the laptop has the FUSION sticker, then its a recent addition to the market, its VERY up to date, its VERY powerful, its a game changer, you are 100% guaranteed for a fact, that you will NOT get ripped off with a shady GPU being built in (60% of laptops have Intel graphics-HORRIBLE)

Its going to be the hottest thing for atleast 2 more quorters of the year.

Avoid DELL, Compaq, Gateway, and knockoffs from china.

if you dont mind a hot running laptop then Nvidia is good for Mid/High range GPU's their low end GPU's lose in price, performance and features compared to ATi, their high end GPU's tend to give more frames per second compared to ATi, so if your spending 2000$ or more on a computer, and those 1-3 out of 60 FPS matter to you, if your really hardcore into gaming, then Nvidia should definitely be in your list of options inside your next laptop.

ATi is a big winner for 3 years in a row, even their low end cheep GPU's are considered good compared to the competition, they are innovative creative, they always have a pleasant surprise with each new line they release, they are the current standard every other GPU maker looks at to copy.

Lenovo is now owned by the Chinese, expect quality to slowly drop, the quality IBM has made for them 2 years ago when they sold it to the state run Communist party owned company, right now they are about mid grade, the company they can be best compared to right now, 2012, is HP, HP is a US based private company, the largest laptop manufacturer in the world, Chose HP, especially if you opt for a very long 3-5 year warranty upgrade, as their quality control and quality wont change while lenovo is at risk of getting worse, NOT better.

Large entertainment laptops, HP Toshiba and samsung seem to be big, but HP trully has the best, HP envy and DV6 and DV7 series are trully winners, the DV6 and 7 series has bin around for a long time, has seen MANY updates and is a very tested and tried product, if you want something you can be sure of, get a DV6 or my personal favorite, a DV7T

Whatever you chose, if its a 17 inch model MAKE SURE the screen is 1920X1080, make it a dealbreaker MUST have inside of the laptop if you opt for a 17 inch large laptop, the alternative is, widescreen, which is not going to be super crisp and clear like a 1920X1080 screen.
Some laptops 15 inch size come with 1920X1080 Native resolution screens, most, unfortunately do not.
remember, 1920X1080 is worth the money, it has more pixes per inch then 1600X900 widescreen.

Several interesting possibilities for you to look into:

recent addition to the market 2012, high end netbook.

same thing, less 2 gigs of ram but ergonomics and looks are excellent.

for large laptops:
HP envy line, make sure its the updated line with 7XXX as the ergonomics have bin updated and this will be their 3rd generation line of envy laptops, expect to see no kinks, no problems in a trully finished product with superb ergonomics and only the best components including a SUPER crisp and clear 1920X1080 very high quality screen, also expect to pay a premium but MUCH better connectivity, easy to upgrade on your own, compatibility and better performance then a MAC
they come in sizes ranging from 13 to 17 inches and im hearing they have an upgraded battery option called the "slice" which snaps onto the bottom. 100$ from HP, I think its only for the 13 inch model but runtime is 8-14 hours, which is steller.

DV6 and 7 are standard 500-900$ laptops, same exact performance as the HP envy but no frills, such as backlit keyboard, a screen that is not as crisp and clean as the super high end one built into the envy (envy screen's are known to deliver from 420-600 nits brightness, most laptops like the DV6-7 series offer 200-300) ergonomics are good but not like the Envy line.

Which computer should I keep?

Q. Hi I am a junior going to high school in the rich and snobby Silicon Valley located in California. I recently have run into 3 different computers for free and I am deciding which one I want to keep. The computer I pick will probably come with me to college and afterwards. I will use my computer for school, gaming, and computer science/video/art programs. I received a Fujitsu Lifebook AH532, a Lenovo ThinkPad X230, and a 13-Inch 2012 MacBook Air. Here are the specs of each computer:

Fujitsu Lifebook AH532:

Lenovo ThinkPad X230:

13-Inch 2012 Apple MacBook Air

Thank you!

Answer
I prefer the thinkpad, I just picked up a refurbished x200

I like lenovos software options and it is a solid built machine, lightweight , specs are good, quality is there.

I've heard good things about fujitsu as well
and mac lovers rave about their macs, but not enuf compatible software for me...perhaps for you it don't matter, I dunno.
