No new macbook pro at WWDC? Need one for college!?

Jeraldwazh

Alright, so here is my dilemma... I need a laptop for college. Macbook pro is my choice because of its reliability and power. I was expecting it to get updated yesterday at WWDC. Now I am led to believe that the new macbook pro will be released when I am in college. Is it a big deal to have the updated macbook pro? Is a macbook air a good choice? Should I just buy the 2012 macbook pro? How long will the 2012 macbook pro last me?

Answer
I hate to burst your bubble but a computers power is a measurement of what it's capable of running. Since Apple for the last 30 years has refused to make their computers compatible with mainstream software, they are not considered a power pc. I'm sure someone will jump in and say "Oh but you can install Windows on them now" but that is about the most foolish statement anyone could make. Spend an average of 1500 to 2000 bucks on a computer and then throw Windows on it to make it halfassed compatible with a 700 dollar PC? Lastly, if you're going into the technical field, don't be too upset when the rest of the students laugh at your macbook.
Edit: And if you get advice in here from someone to report someone else in here because that person doesn't like your answer, that is rant. Report THEM.

2012 Macbook Pro with Retina or non Retina?

Drew

So I'm in the market for a new laptop and I want a mac. I have used PC all my life but I want something different and I think the macs are really cool. I will be heading off to college next year so I need something light, thin, and overall compact so I'm looking at the 13'' Macbook Pros. However I cannot decide between getting a regular Macbook Pro or spending a few extra bucks to get the new Retina Display macbook. a few questions for you guys:

Is the retina display really that much better than the regular macbook? Is the macbook screen still really good compared to a PC laptap?

Does one macbook overheat more than the other? I like to use my laptops on my lap so will either one get really hot? Which one is quieter in terms of fan noise and what not?

I've heard that the Retina Display Macbook lags a little, especially on web pages? Is this true? If it is is the lag really that bad/ noticable and does it happen all the time?

Overall, which is a better machine for me (a college student who will be using it all the time)?

thanks for all the help! the more information the better!

Answer
There is no reason what so ever to buy a mac if you don't want the IPS retina display. cause pc is better and cheaper.

The best pc notebook screens are the $75 discontinued AUO B156HW01 V4 or v7 (which still looks crap compared to my IPS desktop screen) and the $500 HP DreamColor IPS screens.
pc notebooks with good screens are exceptionally rare.
