Best Laptop for college student????

I'm a Freshman in college and was wondering what the best laptop for me would be.I waould like a Sony but there's sooooo many different kinds and models and dont know which one is best for me.
I will also need to be able to use the PowerPoint program to make presentations.

Personally for me, I chose a Dell XPS M1210 but unfortunately, they have been discontinued for a newer model. I chose this laptop because it has a super small screen (12.1 inches) and it's really light (about 4 lbs.). Because it is so portable, it has been really good to me considering I have to carry lots of big huge books around campus along the with laptop. It's small so I can slip it in or out of my backpack easily. I had it custom made for me also installed with Microsoft Office so that I can have access to PowerPoint as well. I would recommend just using a small, portable, lightweight laptop that you can use with ease at home and especially at school that's customeized to your needs.

Hi:) i would like to know which laptops i should look for for school.
I have been trying to research which laptop is ideal for me but there are many many options and I would like to hear suggestions.

I'm looking for:
-something portable
-light
-high battery life
-lets me have many windows open ( documents, webpages, etc.)
-something below $600 that's my max
-not a netbook
-webcam
-good amount of RAM (more than 2gb)
-large storage


if possible:
-high gaming capabilities
-pre installed software

i am also open to looking into brands and not specifically specific laptops:D
