Good Laptops for college students?

Austin

I'm a senior in high school and my mom and I are makeing a college list. Any suggestions on what to get? What not to?

Answer
I would suggest:

Screen size: 13 to 15 inches
processor (CPU): Intel i3 2nd gen or i5 second gen
hard drive: several hundred GB
RAM: at least 4 GB
Graphics card: doesnt really matter

All laptops should come with built in wi-fi stuff, so you can connect to the internet wirelessly. I recommend that screen size range because its good to have something that isn't too small (where you have to squint your eyes) or something too big and heavy (17in screen weighs a lot and it will take a toll on most people) Dell, Asus and Sony are great brands, a lot of students have Toshiba (i personally dont like it due to my bad experience) and HP is alright. Gateway isn't that great. As for the CPU, just dont get an AMD because its not as good. And, if you dont mind Macs, you can consider getting a Macbook.

What is the best screen size (laptop) for college?

huh?

Calling out all current and former college students. What do you the best screen size is? Remember its relation to weight!

Also mention if it is the only computer you use either.

Answer
I would go with a 15'' screen. It's a good combination of size and weight. I went to college with a 12'' widescreen and it was ok for a while but when i had to do serious work that required a few hours per night on it, i found that it was too small and strained my eyes after a while. Go with at least a 15'' inch monitor and if you don't need to take it around with you get a 16'' or 17'' widescreen so you can watch movies confortably...

Another option is to get a small laptop and buy yourself a separate monitor for it so you have a proper screen for a laptop that you can carry around on campus..
