Calligraphers around Boston?

Anna

Hi, Im looking for a calligrapher for my wedding invitations in the metro Boston area. I'm having a hard time finding many online, although I have found a few. Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance

Answer
yup!

don't bother online, you won't find much.

go to a local school, college preferably.. and go to the art department, find out when their calligraphy classes take place, and ask a student.. or post something on a bulletin..

or go to a local high school, and ask the calligraphy teacher.. i'm sure she/he would be happy for the extra $.. or maybe they can lead you to a student who can do it..

my brother is amazing with calligraphy! he learned when he was 15 for one term and now people always ask him to do things for them (he wrote a prayer for my mom when he was in calligraphy class on a 9"x24" sheet, and she has it framed in front of her bedroom. the drawing on it is also so.. surreal.. 2 hands in a prayer motion in the background which has a sunset effect..but all he took was basic art 1 and calligraphy 2 in highschool! he's not creative at ALL! he made about 50 of those for other people who wanted them after they saw moms and he got enough to buy himself a laptop which he wanted for college but couldn't afford on his own) but he's not in boston..

lol yeah.. go to a high school or college.. you'll be helping out students or teachers and you'll get a great price, plus someone who's very enthusiastic about helping.. :)

What should I bring to college?

My sister is going to college (California to Boston). What are like 10 essential items to bring with her or anything she will need?

Answer
If she is moving to a dorm:

-Mini Fridge (so she won't have to go to the store everyday or depend on vending machines)
-Computer (laptop preferably! There's almost no space)
-Bedding stuff
-Lamp
-Personal Care items and a basket to place them in.
-Microwave
-A bike to get around campus easily (with a padlock)
-Some extra bins to keep her clothes because there probably won't be much room for them.
-Trashcan
-Some plates and forks and cups so that she can eat.
