High school, so you will likely be using their computers for running the Adobe design suite, any laptop you like will be fine, just be prepared that if you go to college for the same thing you will need to spend at least $1500 between a powerful laptop and the software.

I am going to bestbuy and I want a good brand laptop perferably a dell! I am a 10th grade highschool student; male. I will use this for school and not so much gameing. I will watch movies on it quite a bit! and it must have a webcam and wifi features! No smaller than 14.5" or 15". and the price cannnot exeed $500.00!!!!!!!!!! CAUTION: As talked about on Dr. Phil, LapTops are more prone to Wireless Hackers, its not hard for them to get into your WebCam, wirelessly speaking. I could be the guy next door getting into your cam.
Solution: Stick tape over your WebCam and Built-In Mic, when not in use or try a free safe program to block the cam.

Refurbished can actually be a good thing.


Stay away from Toshiba and Acer LapTops. GateWay LapTops are good, but the customer service sucks.

I've repaired Toshiba's. Have seen loads of bad reports on Acer, related to Startup problems.

Go with Dell or HP.

2.0ghz or higher
250gb Storage
(Storage is 7% less than advertised, Win7 will take up about 25gb's with future updates)

3gb Ram (is best for Win7)
Windows 7 Pro (has longer support by Microsoft than Ultimate and Premium)
External Backup (if you don't have this, this will save you from having to do file recovery)

No. Laptops are considered a luxury and not a necessity. Most school libraries have computers that students can use for their schoolwork. Also, public libraries usually have computer labs now. Since there are all these programs out there for people to have access to computers, there is really no need for scholarships or aid specifically for laptops.

I'm in highschool and I need a laptop because a lot of the schoolwork is on the computer and I need it for research purposes. I'm on the go a lot after school hours. I need something reliable, fast, a lot of memory space, and able to connect to wireless internet. I want something affordable and pink. Any suggestions?

It depends on whether you want a Mac/Windows.
Sony VAIO has some VERY stylish laptops that come in all sorts of colours - ruby red, blue, white, pink, turquoise - pretty much anything.

But, if you want a Mac - Macs can look pretty cool. Because even though they can only be bought in White/Black - you can find many a cover to attach to your mac that can make it look very stylish. I have a mac and I like the 'clean', white look of it - but many of my friends have Sony VAIOs (very popular) and they're really cool!

Oh and btw - pretty much all laptops can connect wirelessly to the internet =)
