Good laptop processor?

I was hearing that the mobile i7 processors were good but that I should just get a 720qm because I would probably max out the card or RAM (planning 6gb)before I overload the cpu. I want to be able to play games in the future like Interstellar Marines, which looks like it will be released at the end of 2011 or beginning of 2012. Also is it better to get a mobility hd 5850 or 5870 better for the price/what I want.

I know desktop is better but my parents wont let me buy one. IDK why but they want me to get laptop because I'm going to college and they think that it will be easier. I need a laptop for college anyway.

Also, what brand do you recommend? I was looking at Sager but people said that they had problems with their systems (well all systems have their stories though).
Is there any Dell laptops that have the 5850 or 5870 also?

microsoft surface for college? Opinions..?

So I'm considering getting the surface for college as a laptop/tablet. I was wondering if in your opinion would it be worth the money. Also is it ever at all slow. Since it has a windows mode can you install windows 8 compatible programs such as visual studio 2012? When getting memory chips for it is there a limit too the size of the memory chip that can be used with it. What are some possible down falls of it but also some positive aspects of it.

Surface is not x86 compliant so you can't use it with windows 8 apps, Surface Pro IS x86 compliant so it will run windows 8 apps.
