Answer
Whilst apparently I am now an uninformed old person and/or teenage girl, I am also not going to be a "typical Mac person" by saying ooh ooh get the Mac.

I'm going to keep this short, and sweet, and purely from collective experience of the past five years of my career:

If you want to switch to Mac, ignore the 13" MacBook Pro. Go straight for the 15". The faster processor, larger screen, actual graphics card instead of the Intel Integrated chipset, make it well worth the extra price.

If you want to stick with PC, by all means do so, and that specification sounds great. Just please, don't buy HP. HP are like Ford. Fix Or Repair Daily. Buy a Dell, or Toshiba, or... well maybe not a Sony, with the same specifications as above, and you will have one hell of a machine.

Ultimately though, it comes down to what you want to do with the laptop. If playing games pops up in the top five things you're going to do, stick with PC, unless the other top four things are video, audio or graphics editing. There is a reason why Macs are used predominately in the arts industries. Remember though, you don't need a superpowered laptop just to write essays.

One final note, *really*, a 17" screen with a resolution as low as 1600x900? That's ... ow. If you're going with a 17" laptop computer, make sure the resolution is AT LEAST 1860x1050, or you're going to hurt your eyes trying to use it. 1860x1050 is usually a standard for 15" displays these days.

Anyway, that became a bit of a ramble, please excuse me. I hope I've been of some help.

I was wondering if the Microsoft Home and Student 2011 can work for a Window 7?

Q. I need something that can help me with my Language Art and Literature homework when my teacher give me a prompt. I have a Window 7 Laptop and the paint doesn't fix my spelling and after you save it and when you need to fix it, it doesn't let you and so I was wondering it the Microsoft Word can help.PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Answer
MS Office 2011 is for Macs only. The latest version for Windows is MS Office 2010. You can also try Libre Office, which is free.
