best laptops for college students 2014 image

Amy Abdel

I'm a college student and carrying around a laptop and text books and a notebook is getting really heavy and a lot of pounds on my back so i want to buy a tablet.
Here what i'm looking for
-Something that i can take notes on in class
-Light weight
-Being able to download eBooks (textbooks) on

If you know of another good tablet other then the two i mentioned please let me know!

Answer
I would say the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 or the Galaxy Note 8.0. The 10.1 is epic, but unfortunately carries a $600 price tag. It is great for taking notes though and you can eaily download ebooks. It you can't afford that though, then go for the 8.0, which is just as capable, but slower and smaller. If you can't even afford that, the go for the Nexus 7 2013, which I would not recommend for what you want to do, but it is only $230. If you can't afford that then you should not buy a tablet.

Would getting this laptop be worth it?

I need a new laptop and I was going to get a really nice Dell off of Amazon w/ Windows 7 Home Premium because I don't like the new Windows 8 but today I saw that Microsoft will not support Windows 7 by January 12, 2015. Well that means I would spend around $600 for this laptop plus I was going to upgrade to Windows 7 Professional for $80.00. So that's around $700.00 + in total, (USD) for only 2 years. Would it be worth it? Will Microsoft no longer be supporting Windows 7 by 2015? Should I just get a Windows 8 laptop?

Here's the URL to where I read MS will not support Windows 7: http://www.zdnet.com/blog/bott/how-long-will-microsoft-support-xp-vista-and-windows-7/2304.

Here's the URL to the laptop (I don't think you'll need it but..yeah): http://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-i15R-2105sLV-15-Inch-Laptop/dp/B0081YPVHE/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1362951892&sr=1-5&keywords=Dell+Inspiron+15+R+Windows+7

Thanks in advanced. :)

Answer
ok, that zdnet article is wrong if it says windows 7 and xp support form microsoft is ending. prior history and common sense say otherwise. especially now, because alot of college students and younger people are just as comfortable with linux and android, microsoft is not going to tick off its customer base. there is no reason why if someone bought a laptop one day before windows 8 launched that microsoft will not support windows 7. windows 2000 ceased to be installed on new pc's in 2001. customer support for windows 2000 ended in 2006. xp will continue to be supported until 2014. vista will continue to be supported till 2017( i am installing vista on my new laptop). both of those havent been installed on new pc's in years. so windows 7 support wont end for a long long time. anyone who says other wise is an idiot. the best place to get info is microsoft's support web site. as for that laptop, it isnt a good deal. i recommend this one, bump up the processor to an amd a10, and this laptop is not only superior to the dell,it is cheaper. and the ten dollar battery upgrade is well worth it i think. contact me if you need more help. jdbj32m@yahoo.com

as proof, here is the microsoft web page showing xp is still being supported by microsoft until 2014.
