best laptops for college classes image

i need a tablet pc. the kind that is like a lap top but the screen turns and its touch screen or you could use a stylus. I will be taking online college classes. It would need to have a cd drive thing so i could download programs. Thank you in advance for your answers. i am in the price range of about $500 i would go up to $1000 if i had to.

None. You want a laptop, not a tablet.
Tablets are essentially expensive toys right now. They don't have a full-featured web browser that supports the required plugins you'll need. They don't have CD drives. Most don't even have USB drivs for use with thumb drives.
For $600, you can get a pretty powerful 15" laptop that will meet all your needs. No it won't be some lightweight, sleek Star Trek-esque device...but you need functionality not a fashion accessory.
There are a few tablet-PCs that can do what you're thinking of but they're far more than $1000 and honestly, not worth the money. All the moving parts means these things aren't very sturdy and I doubt you want to be buying a new one every 6-12 months.

Generally, no. Unless the school required that you buy the laptop FROM THE SCHOOL as a condition of enrolling or attending the classes, you can't get a tax credit for it even if the school requires that all students have a laptop.
