Student loan question help please?

Brittney

I want to take a small student loan for online classes for a laptop, books, and what not. What if i decide I do not want to go anymore, its not fraud is it? What is the avg Apr on student loans? Thank you

Answer
If you mean federal student loans that you get from filling out the FAFSA you file the FAFSA listing colleges you may be interested in. Those colleges you apply to want to offer you acceptance will then create a financial aid award for you. This award could contain grants, loans, federal work study, usually a combination, depending on what you qualify for and when you file. So you would have to accept their award and the grants and loans get deposited into the college account where the college takes out their charges for tuition, fees, housing and meal and any left over is refunded to youl. So you do not get the money directly to you, it goes to the college first. Also those loans have to be paid back and with interest depending on the type.

If you mean private loans like sallie mae etc. you need to look at their terms for rates etc.
