I am interested in buying a mac computer for university -going into first year in the fall. What mac's are best for university students?

It depends on the budget, how much weight you want to carry, and your preferance of screen size. If you have a low budget then just go for the Macbook, but if money isn't as much of a factor then get a Macbook pro. I am not an apple fan at all and would at least suggest getting a dell studio 15 or a dell studio xps 16. Both can be upgrade to better specs than macs for cheaper prices. And they are high quality laptops.

definitely say the macbook. Its counterpart, the macbook pro would be for tasks that require intense operations, like HD Video editing, or Photo editing. if its just word processing and notes, then there is no need for the top of the range. plus its cheaper. but its all up to you and what your gonna do at uni! :D
