How can we use laptops by next year?

Ok, I'm in middle school (7th grade) and I'm trying to get laptops in school next year for 8th grade. But, the problem is, I don't know how. I've already written a letter and I'm sending it tomorrow (April 19th, 2010) to the principal, but what do I do after that?

Plus, with the whole business of "Webcam Used To Spy On Kids At Home" business going around, I don't know if it will come to be! Please, if any of you have any info on this, please give me some tips!

some advice, if you want laptops, try to find cheap yet affordable ones. good thing is, students who do work on laptops dont need dual core processors, high rate memory cards, huge screen, or a ton of RAM. try looking for this...

single core processor
1 GB of RAM
try to find a small, but not too small so it comes down to expensive price becuase its so *portable*
if your worried about the webcam, write down every software it comes with. then, if they come, check to see if they downloaded anything or make them sign something promising they dont spy.

try to avoid sites like

gateway.com they only sell high rate computers and laptops

and try to find something on

hp.com
or
dell.com

How do I convince my parents to buy me laptop?

I will be in high school this year. My family all shares one computer. Everyday I have homework on the computer. My little sister always plays games on it when I need to use it for my homework. As I get into high school and she goes to middle school, we will both be needing it more. I am not old enough to get a job, otherwise I would. They are not really opposed to the idea, but they don't really want to. I get good grades and I am very responsible. How can I convince them to buy me a laptop?

I think telling them that having a laptop is essential to your development as a student in addition to the amount of information you have at your finger tips in a mobile setting is really probably the best way to argue and present your side.

Also price could be good. I actually just bought a laptop after over 10 days of looking and found an a pretty cool deal. Theres a seller on Amazon called "Electronic Mind" that is selling some really powerful Acer Aspires way below retail value and has the lowest price on Amazon all together.

I dont know how they can sell them so cheap but I have had mine now for 2 weeks and I am very happy with my brand new laptop.

With Acer Aspire you cant go wrong. and with this price I think your parents will be happy
