I am looking at laptops for my freshman college year and I am torn between the MacBook 13-inch with 250GB hard drive and 4GB of memory and the HP special edition laptop and Dell inspiron. Which is the best?
Answer
It all depends on what you're like. If you're more creative, and like making music and movies and using iTunes a lot, go with a Mac. You can use iLife to create music with Garageband, and make your own movies with iMovie. You can also use Microsoft Office on Mac's with Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac. They also look pretty slick, and don't look cheep like some laptops. Either of the Windows machines would be fine if you're just going to browse the internet and write papers, but it's not going to be as fun I'd say... and you'll have to have all the virus software on your computer that slows it down!

What is the best features to get in a Dell laptop for a freshman college student?
Anna G
I am using Dell.com to make create my laptop for my upcoming freshman year at college. What are the features I should be sure to include in this laptop that will be useful to me at college? I will be attending NYU if that is relevant.
Answer
For a college student you want to get as much as possible. I'm going to assume that you are going to run programs. internet, and student applications all at the same time. You want to have at least a dual core processor running at at least 2.5 Ghz. You also want at least 2 Gbs of ram memory. Graphics card should be at least 256 mb and you should try to get 250 Gbs of hardrive memory. Alienware and Digitalstormonline make really good laptops, built to top specs. But, if I were you, I would get a desktop because they are cheaper, more efficient, and much more powerfull. A good laptop can be around $1500 and up. A good desktop can be as low as $500 and up. but you choose. Laptops are extremely convenient.
