Best laptop for college student?

Im a freshman and im taking a couple online courses along with actual classes. I would prefer not to spend over appx 700-800. Cheaper would be great but i want something quality that will last. I dont know a ton about computers but im also not completely challenged when it comes to them either. It would be greatly appreciated if you could include a link with your suggestion. Thanks :)

well i am in the same boat,i go to an online college for military members/veterans, i am gonna show you two different laptops. one is built for long battery life and low heat stress, so it isnt as powerful.

The best laptop for a college student?

I will be going to college in the fall, and will have to buy a new laptop. I would like a Mac, due to them not catching viruses. However, I will be majoring in business and I'm sure I will need to use Microsoft Word to write papers. So would it be best to get something else, or just get a Mac? Opinions and advice welcome, thanks!

first off,macs are not immune to viruses and they will increase as time goes on. a couple months ago 80,000 macs were infected with a virus. so apples main selling point is crumbling. i would buy a p with windows 7 on it. and i wouldnt use microsoft word. there are cheaper and free office programs that work just as well.contact me if you need more help. jdbj32m@yahoo.com
