I am looking into buying a laptop for student use, and my parents are wondering how a person can hack into a laptop. It seems that all of what my family and I know is by watching computer techies on CSI, but that's all made up of course.

Can someone help me dispell the myths of the geeky tech world?

For one, you should turn off Remote Assistance on your PC.

Always keep anti-virus updated and running

Don't open unknown emails and click on links in them even if u do open them

Keep a password on your PC when logging in. Log out each time you walk away from the PC.

Don't download from unknown sources and using cracked keys to download software you know you should pay for.

Downloading free movies and music is an invite into your PC
