What is a good laptop model for a college student?

Me

I need a computer that is reliable, not too expensive ($350ish), and that will last me a while. Anyone have any suggestions which models, brands, and places to buy?

A good laptop for a college student?

Q. I'm shopping for a new laptop-I am sick and tired of my Macbook Air...

My parents bought me the Macbook Air as a gift before I moved to New York, but I can't take it anymore. It's slow and I can't plug anything into it.

I know that it was a bit pricey, and I would feel like an unappreciative brat telling them I want a new one, so I'm buying a new one with my own money (I work a partime job at Victoria's Secret on top of school-but my parents don't know about it because they would get mad at me)

I'm not looking to spend more then $600 ($700 at most), and I heard Dell has some laptops that would fit my budget-I'm just looking for something that would be ideal for a college student

any help? thanks
Mainly word documents, internet (for things like research, Yahoo Answers, Youtube), and iTunes....those are the 3 main and most essential things I'll need it for
