best laptop for uni student image
Me
Compare to their function, which one is better for a graphic design student in uni?
And is the graphics tablet useful? Easy to use? Which brand is better?
Thanks :D
Answer
The money you pay for the same crap.
Neither, they are designed for moronic fanbois without a clue. If you want to use a laptop in graphic design choose one with a professional video card like http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834147695
For graphic design a tablet is practically mandatory. The biggest: Wacom.

What is the difference between these two Intel processors?
bucketfora
I'm looking at buying laptop, and am tossing up between these two Toshibas; one has an Intel Pentium Dual Core processor T4300 2.1GHz, and the other Intel Core2Duo 2.2GHz. They both have 4Gb of RAM.
I'm buying this laptop to use at uni, if that gives you an indication of my usage. Which would be better? Or would I not notice a difference?
I'm going to be studying physics and music technology, but I don't know if we're required to buy certain software for our own computers for these subjects
Answer
The Pentium Dual core series have a smaller L2 cache -- typically only 1 megabyte. And it has a 800mhz front side bus.
The Core 2 Duo series have between 2 to 4 megabytes of cache, depending on the model, and has a 1066mhz front side bus.
The latter is of course, faster, more energy efficient, and will give you better performance.
The former is a budget CPU -- cost effective but not exactly high end. It's okay for general usage but high end things like Photoshop, video editing, and gaming is out of the question.
Before you make a purchase decision think about the type of programs you're going to run on it. If you're arts student for example, you might want a faster CPU so you can run Photoshop on it. If you just need something to word process on, the lower end option is fine.
