Why do kids need new laptops to learn facts from the 19th century?
CornyFred
Calculus, chemistry, physics, and all sciences taught in HS have been known since the 19th century. Why do students need new macbooks paid from taxpayer dollars when the school budgets are already running record deficits?
Money is fungible, regardless of taxpayer or not, there is still a net deficit from these moneywasters.
Answer
no need at all.
However, most large district laptop purchases are grant funded. this means there are grant programs in place either: publicly or privately funded.
If they are taxpayer money: then yes...the people *you* voted in set up a system to distribute funds to schools.
If they are private - then companies are vying to have access to the goodwill that comes along with a large portion of a population using your services
You cannot make blanket statements about funding - it just may be it was *not* taxpayer funds.
