Moving Out For The First Time - Basic Help *please* !?

So, I am a recent graduate (June 2012) and going to be moving out in a few years. I really need you all's help on what are the main things I need to look into to start off well. I'll inform you a little bit about me and what I'm asking for~ â¥

Me:
-18 years old
-Not planning on going to college (undecided on my career choice)
-Working at a part-time job (between 20-30 hours) with a min. wage for over 2 years.
-Still learning how to drive (already have a permit). So far, I'm doing good. But until I think I'm ready, I'm not going to get my license just yet even though I can take the test. lol
-Long story, but next month I'll be able to start saving up to buy a car.
-My main entertainment would be to hang out with family/friends and search the web (i.e. FB, Youtube).
-I need to buy a computer/laptop for my own.
-I can and like to cook...so mainly meals from home instead of fast food restaurants.
-I like to wash my work uniform frequently (2x a week - not including my reg. clothes) and use about 2-3 cups of laundry soap. :]
-Already have my own set of dishes.
-I do not want to make any loans as much as possible! Debt free please! lol

Help:
-Billing payments. I would prefer to do all billing online---saves gas and money. :D
-Cheap furniture?
-Not planning on having a roommate, but I do want to live in an apartment or rent a house.
-If I do get a roommate (my best friend ^_^), then help on that is also good (i.e. sharing payments).
-I may apply for EBT (food stamps) it will help out tremendously especially for my first time.
-Any other info?

Your take home pay will need to be at least 3 times the rent amount each month. Search online to see what apartments go for in your area (rent.com, apartments.com, many others). If you can't afford it, a roommate or two will be needed to split the bills. Before you move out, save up 3 month's expenses (9 times the rent) to cover deposits, first month's rent, and all the start up costs that go along with living on your own. Make a plan to have the car paid off before you move out so you have one less bill to worry about each month.

Macbook Air vs Macbook Pro?

I have never had a Mac before but I would like to get a new laptop before I go to college. My dilemma is choosing between these two Macs.

One choice is a Refurbished 13" MacBook Air originally released June 2012
1.8GHz Dual-core Intel i5
4 GB memory
256 GB flash storage
for $1,349.58 (including tax)

My other choice is a a Refurbished 13" MacBook Pro originally released June 2012
2.5GHz Dual-core Intel i5
4 GB of 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM
500GB Serial ATA @ 5400 rpm
for $1,083.71 (including tax)

The MBP would be more worth the money because of the hard drive/flash space and the GHz speed especially since the MBP is actually cheaper (and my current laptop has 2.5 GHz.)
However, I really like the weight and design of the MBA and think it would be easier to carry around campus than the MBP (I'm not sure if the weight of the MBA would be a huge difference compared to the MBP/if it would weigh out all of the positives of the MBP.)
The CD/DVD drive on the MBP is obviously a plus, however, I don't use the drive enough as to where that is a huge factor and if necessary, I would buy a plug-in drive.
Another thing to take into account is that I have used 127 GB of hard drive space on my current laptop and have therefore ruled out all refurbished MBA that have 128 GB of flash storage (Would 256 GB of flash memory on the MBA be enough?)
The price tag is not a huge factor since they aren't too far off, but nonetheless, is one.
(If there are any other factors that I missed that you think would make a difference, please mention them in your comment.)
Again, the factor really pushing me to get the MBA is the size and portability of the laptop that is necessary for college and if the hard drive space/GHz of the MBP would be worth the loss of weight/design that the MBA has.
Which laptop would you recommend that I buy? And thank you in advance for the feedback!

I would suggest you to buy Mac book Pro. No doubt that it is more efficient due to 5400rpm it is more fast in performance.

I have a desktop that ill have for college so i want a good affordable PC so i decided to go with a Tablet that is lightweight, durable, and can do what a laptop the same price as that can do. So i was wondering when it is available for purchase.

I'll be in college (going to UGA--studying science and literature, so no programming etc.) next semester and was wondering which of these is better for students. I really want to get a 13" laptop, and I don't mind the extra weight of the MacBook Pro; however, I've heard that the new MacBook Air (released mid-June 2012) comes with many cool features and leaves out the obsolete features present on the MacBook Pro (i.e. optical disk drive, etc.) I honestly don't even know if I'll ever use the optical disk drive on the MacBook Pro.

Anyway, I want to get a 13" with 8 GB RAM. Also, should I get a Core i5 or i7 processor? Again, I won't really be doing any gaming/excessive programming on this.

I'm going to UGA next year too and I just bought a 13" MacBook Pro from the bookstore when I went for orientation. It was only $999 and I got a $100 apple gift card. (Cheapest price I have seen on this certain computer) I got the Pro because I wanted the disc drive to watch movies and it's just easier to download software that comes with a disc. That's just my opinion though. I don't know much about the new MacBook Air but I love my Pro so far!:)

(Mine was 4GB RAM and an i5)

Ok so I have a 2012 MacBook Pro that I bought back in May ..

& I just got a letter today in the mail from my college that said I own $1,078 for my summer class.
Problem is, I DROPPED MY CLASS BEFORE IT EVEN STARTED. I took a screen shot when I was dropping it & after I dropped it. I took the screen shot back on June 5th at 1am.

I usually go through my laptop & get rid of files I don't need. But I can't find this screen shot & I believe I deleted it. I don't have any file backup on my laptop, I don't know much about MacBooks like that ..


So is there anyway that I can gain ALL of the history of my files I ever deleted on this laptop back so that I can go through them?

I'm waiting for the 2012 one to come out in June because it's thinner (i'm quite small and i need to carry it around college), so portability is a must have for me and has some upgrades, but will it cost more than the 2011 one, once it comes out or should I just buy the 2011 one right now? (i want the 13" inch)

Or should I just wait until the 2012 lowers the price in a few more months? (I don't /need/ a laptop right now currently, and I'm tight on money as well)

Hard to answer, I think Apple will try to keep the price as what it is. But if demand increase (which is most likely to), then Apple could bump up the prices. If you remember the first iPad, it cost $499, just like the new iPad today. most likely Apple will keep the prices the same.I would wait a couple of months before buying.
