What do you do to prevent bed bugs from following you into new home?

I'm a college student and I brought all my stuff home for the summer, unknowingly into a bed bug infestation! In a few weeks I'm getting my own apartment, the only things I'm bringing are books jewelry boxes random stuff but no furniture, clothes laptop backpack and some glass dishes. I'm so scared to bring the bugs to my new place hire contagious are they? I haven't been living there but my stuff is there ave there's five people living there. Every time I come over I get bit just sitting on the couch. Any advice? Can they get into electronics? Well they really be in my books and paper things? I'm terrified and a poor college student my family is to proud to admit the problem

It is very common for people to be "to proud" to admit that there is a problem. Bed Bugs have nothing to do with how nice of a house you have or how clean you keep it. Most people we deal with have very nice houses and travel a lot.

I would wash and dry everything possible at the highest temperature for at least 25 minutes. This will kill all eggs and bed bugs. In electronics I would use Diatomaceous Earth in a duster you could buy from a pest or professional landscaping supplier. Very lightly shoot dust in and this will kill any bed bugs that come in contact with it by drying out the waxy layer. Never use the "over-the-counter" sprays. This normally makes the problem worse because it drives them back into the walls. Usually it takes a professional with the expertise to combat a bed bug problem.

please suggest a good laptop backpack to me?

I am a student going to college and i want a laptop backpack with good protection and a lot of rooms for other things like 1-2 binders and a couple textbooks, pencils, water bottle, things like that. my laptop is about 16 inch and 2 inch thick. please give me suggestions of what laptop backpacks i should get. Thanks in advance.

I'd say go with Swiss Gear. I've had mine for a while. I used it in college and continue to use it since I've graduated.

I'm going back to school and will commute to the campus two days a week. I will spend the entire day at the campus once I get there and will not have easy access to my car. I need to carry everything (including Mac Laptop) in my backpack or bag. Any suggestions?

Don't bring your books to class unless the professor actually requires you to do so. This is pretty unlikely though. I think out of my 4 years of college, only 1 or 2 professors made us bring in the books.

You might also want to see how it goes with bringing your laptop. Many students get sick of bringing them to class. Plus, some professors even have rules against using them during class time. I never had a strong need to use one during class. Printed notes and pens worked fine for me. Plus, without a laptop, you won't have to worry about it getting stolen, running out of batteries, finding a plug, etc.

But, if you are set on bringing your laptop, look for a padded bag that you can carry on your back. I also like bags with several inside pockets to carry things like pens, makeup, keys, cell phones, wallets, etc. That way you don't have to carry an additional purse.

I have an awesome backpack that I've had for 10 years but it's bright pink. What types of bags do grad students usually carry? I don't really care for laptop bags or messengers bags. I'd prefer a backpack, but want to look professional as well.

Grad students carry whatever works for them, and that frequently involves keeping things that maybe they wouldn't buy now but that don't really need to be replaced, because many grad students are trying not to spend too much money. Keep the pink backpack. If, at some point down the road, you decide that you'd rather not be carrying a bright pink backpack, you can replace it with exactly what you'd rather carry instead of what you think now you might want to carry at some point in the future. Otherwise, save your money so that when you get started on your job search you can buy a new backpack that looks professional and is likely to last you awhile.
